Having qualified back in 1986, I worked in East Yorkshire and Aberdeenshire before coming to Falkirk and GRVC. Most of my career has been spent in mixed veterinary practice dealing with all types of animals, large and small. These days I divide my time between GRVC and Forth Valley Vets, which is the large animal side of our practice. While I still enjoy seeing and treating animals, I spend more time than ever on the paperwork side of practice. Outside of work I’m a keen scuba diver and dive both locally and abroad, enjoying sealife and wreck diving. At home, I have my two little black pals for company – Maddie (Scottie) and Sophie (hooligan) – and you will often see them at the practice saying hello.
Tom graduated from Glasgow University in 2013 and after a short period working in Carlisle, started work at Struthers and Scott as a mix vet. The formation of Forth Valley Vets allowed him to concentrate on his major interest as a farm animal vet. Tom’s areas of interest are herd and flock level health management and planning, with a particular focus on lameness and reproductive management in sheep, beef and dairy systems. During his free time, Tom likes to be outside enjoying white water kayaking, skiing, mountaineering and even a spot of rugby.
Alasdair divides his time between Struthers and Scott and Forth Valley Vets. He graduated from Glasgow University Veterinary School in 2010 and when he is not at work, enjoys playing the bagpipes, hunting, fishing, shooting and socializing.
